One of the many things that may cause your dog to become a repeat offender of having accidents in the house is because of scent. Once they smell their urine inside the house, it becomes a sign for them that this is a good spot to pee and they will continue to do it unless the scent is thoroughly removed. Other cause could be that they are scared of something outside. When a dog is relieving themselves, they are in a very vulnerable position. They may not want to do this outside if they feel threatened and therefore will do it inside in safety in privacy. Accompanying your dog or scouting out the yard before they go outside can go a long way to making them feel comfortable.

If you currently use "pee-pee pads" inside your house, STOP! This encourages your dog to use the bathroom inside your house and gets them into the habit of doing it. Although it may seem like a better alternative them having them relieve themselves on the floor, it is not a long term solution for them. Consider moving the pad outside if they are in the habit of using it. After a while, you can take the pad away and they should just start to go outside normall. The pads are certainl helpful when the dog is younger, but as they mature, the pad should be removed.
